Leads To Marijuana Arrest
ONEONTA – The report of a home invasion yesterday led to the discovery of $12,000 worth of marijuana in his home and the arrest of the homeowner, Oneonta police reported today.
Edwin C. Milette, 25, was arrested after a younger sibling called the Oneonta police to report an attempted home invasion robbery on Wednesday, March 8, at 306 Chestnut St. in the city. According to the caller, police said, three men had arrived at the house in a dark-colored sedan, possibly a BMW; one of the men was described as a “young black male” with short hair.
Arriving at the house, officers reported a “powerful odor” of marijuana and contacted the OPD Detective Division for additional assistance. Further investigation and interviews with occupants resulted in the home being secured by police while a search warrant was obtained.
Upon subsequent service of the search warrant, police report finding four pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $12,000. Officers seized the suspected drug and more than $14,000 cash, and placed Milette under arrest.
Suspected was charged with criminal possession of marijuana, second degree, a Class D Felony. If convicted, he faces seven years incarceration.
The investigation in to the home invasion continues. It is similar to other entries into houses where drugs and cash are on hand, police said.

I think that we have bigger problems then Marijuana.. waste of resources to execute warrant, search, arrest and charge… if we stop Marijuana arrests and release those serving time for them we may be able to lessen the amount of truly dangerous convicts getting reduced sentences due to prison overcrowding g
