Matthew J. Pardy

COOPERSTOWN – Matthew J. Pardy, 40, of Hobart, most recently employed at The Otesaga, passed away at home on Tuesday morning, May 9, 2017, after complications from heart failure.

Born on June 12, 1976, in Stamford, Matt was the son of Margaret A. Cohn Titch and John O. Pardy.

He was a 1994 graduate of Catskill High School, where he played on the soccer team.  Following graduation, he enlisted in the Navy.

Matthew was a chef, working for numerous local restaurants including Summit Plus Pizza and the Blue Mingo on Otsego Lake before joining The Otesaga.

Mr. Pardy loved gardening, cooking, fishing and camping with his son.  Matt was also a talented artist, drawing, sketching and working in oils and watercolors.   He was an avid football fan, cheering on the Buffalo Bills.

He is survived by his son, Daniel Koerner-Pardy; his mother, Margaret A. (Bob) Titch of Hobart; father, John O. (Carol) Pardy of Catskill; fiancée, Lisa Morris and her daughter, Chloe of Hobart; sister, Terri Pardy of Palenville; brother, Michael Pardy of Bainbridge; step-sister Jennifer Stevens of Shelburne, Vt.; aunt Mary Pause of Hamden; and several other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A celebration of life and time of sharing will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday, June 1, at the Hobart Community Center.  Friends and relatives may call on family until 8 p.m. that evening at the community center.   Burial will take place at the convenience of the family in Locust Hill Cemetery, Hobart.

Contributions in memory of Matt may be made to the American Heart Association.

In Memoriam: Armella Agnes Phillips

FLY CREEK—Armella Agnes Phillips (Aimee), age 100, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Monday, April 15, 2024.  Born into a loving Midwest family on September 19, 1923, she was the 8th child of Henry and Mathilda Mescher and grew up in Dyersville, Iowa with her 13 siblings.  She made front page news when she was the first young lady from her area to join the U.S. Women’s Army Corp in 1944. While serving, she met Hubert “Bud” Phillips, a dashing Air Force gunner. They were married in 1947 and had a wonderful, loving marriage for 54 years.…
