NYT Finds Otsego County

At ‘Extremely High Risk’

The New York Times is reporting Otsego County at an “extremely high risk level” for COVID-19.

“Cases are extremely high and have increased over the past two weeks,” said The Times in its county-by-county assessment.  “The number of hospitalized Covid patients has fallen in the Otsego County area. Deaths have remained at about the same level. The test positivity rate in Otsego County is high, suggesting that cases may be undercounted.”

  1. Maybe it would help if we can get more vaccines available for this area. I can not travel 4 hours away just to get a vaccine.
I have been keeping track of where to get vaccine as I am a consumer personal care provider. It always says no available appointments at this time…..

  2. The only appointment I could get was that Polytech in Utica on March 14 it’s pretty sad you can’t even get an appointment in Cooperstown when you live in Cooperstown

  3. Not good…..the lack of vaccine shots makes one question the county health care systems, local government and state government…just try to get “one”…ah maybe in Plattsburgh

  4. Just finished reading the Cobleskill Times Journal. A local resident was thankful for his shot which he received at the County Building by their professional staff. Otsego County is hiring three more nurses but it is apparent that there is no plan for them to vaccinate the public. However Otsego Public Health defers that responsibility to Bassett Health Care. How can Otsego County continue to create new jobs (County Administrator and staff) When there has been layoffs and a hiring freeze?

  5. It seems nearly impossible to get the vaccine…perhaps there should be a list published where every New Yorker has a number assigned to him, and will be called when his or her turn comes up. The number would give the individual some indication where he was in the line.
