With BOOT Award

Kayla LaRock, Worcester, stands and is recognized for her accomplishments during the Oneonta Job Corps Academy Graduation Ceremony this afternoon at the OJCA campus. LaRock received the National Department of Labor Award, titled the “BOOT Award.” This award stands for Better Occupational Opportunities for Tradeswomen and is an award for females in “non-traditional” career fields, such as construction and manufacturing. LaRock plans on going into an apprenticeship in overhead line work in Pittsburg. “I’m really excited!” she said. “This (program) has got me really far.” (Ian Ausin/AllOTSEGO.com)
