Mike Piazza will enter the Baseball Hall of Fame this July as a Met, he announced at a press conference this afternoon at the New York Athletic Club, where he and Ken Griffey Jr. donned Hall jerseys and spoke to the press.  The designation should increase the turnout at this year’s Induction, and local B&Bs were reporting today that their phones rang constantly after yesterday’s announcement of Piazza and Griffey’s selection; some were booked up for Induction Weekend by evening’s end.   (Baseball Hall of Fame photo)
