IN MEMORIAM:  Ronald C. Ketchum, 68;

Contractor Lifelong Gilbertsville Resident

Ron Ketchum

GILBERTSVILLE – Ronald C. Ketchum, 68, a lifetime resident of Gilbertsville and proprietor of Ron’s Building Maintenance, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 19, 2019.

Ron was born on June 8, 1951, in Sidney, a son of the late Morris and Ruth (Latham) Ketchum.

Ron was a jack of all trades and had the work ethic of a mule.

He received his Bachelor of Science degree from SUNY Cortland in Industrial Business Administration, and for many years was self-employed as a general contractore.

He was passionate about his family, loved his girls unconditionally, and was a loyal member of the community. He was a valued member of the volunteer Gilbertsville Fire Department and an active lifetime member of the Gilbertsville Rod & Gun Club.

He was a staple to his community and always offered a helping hand to anyone in need. Ron will surely be remembered for all the “good times” he had with his family and friends, his smile, and making others laugh while sharing a Genny Red Eye with anyone thirsty.

Ron leaves behind his daughters, Gwen Ketchum, Heather (Issac) Ketchum Wilcox, and Brooke Ketchum; brother, Robert (Liz) Ketchum; grandchildren, Hailee, Peyton, Camden and Ellie; and several nieces, cousins and friends.

Ron’s family extends an invitation to visiting hours at the Johnston Funeral Home, 60 Broad Street, Morris on Sunday, June 23, 2019 from 11AM- 1PM. A celebration of his life will continue after the calling hours at the Gilbertsville Rod & Gun Club (Rod & Gun Club Rd., South New Berlin, NY 13843).

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gilbertsville Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 72, Gilbertsville, NY 13776. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
