IN MEMORIAM: William Barse, 66;

Sidney Truck Driver Died In Crash

William Barse

SIDNEY – Funeral services are scheduled for William Barse, 66, Sidney, the truck driver who died in a truck accident Friday, Oct. 13, 2017, at a quarry in Deposit.

He was born Sept. 6, 1951, in Sidney, son of the late Benjamin and Isabel (Nichols) Barse.

Bill worked with his father and later owned Ben’s Mobile and Manufactured Homes in Unadilla. He was a truck driver, driving wide loads and over the road most of his life. For the last three years, he drove for Schaeffer Enterprises in Deposit to be closer to home.

It is likely that his family will be speaking to a legal firm such as https://www.vatrials.com/trucking-accident-lawyers/ to help with funeral costs as well as other fees during these trying times. They have yet to state if this is the case, however.

Bill loved to hunt, mostly big game and especially with family and friends. He enjoyed four wheeling in the woods with his son and his friends. In his down time, Bill liked to read; most recently science fiction was his genre of choice. Spending time with his family and friends was most important to Bill.

He is survived by his wife, Melinda (Schunk) Barse; three children, Celeste Barse, Jessica and Rod Hunt, Billy Barse and Kailey Kinsella; grandchildren Tristan and Brayleigh; siblings Fred Barse and Lorie Hurlbert, Kay and Paul Harrington, Sr., Win Barse, Harry Barse, and Mike and Sandy Barse; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Debra Smith, Timothy and Tammy Schunk, Tom and Teri Schunk, and any nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by parents-in-law Ronald and Dorothy Schunk, and brothers-in-law Robert Smith and Ronald Schunk.

Calling hours are 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel 21 Main St. Sidney. The funeral will follow at 1 p.m., with burial in Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Unadilla.

Condolences and memories may be shared online at www.landersfh.com

Arrangements are under the direction of C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel 21 Main St. Sidney.
