7 COVID Cases Traced

To Cooperstown Legion

COOPERSTOWN – Seven cases of COVID-19 have been linked to a patron was at the Cooperstown American Legion and later tested positive for the virus, according to Heidi Bond, Otsego County Public Health Director.

With 22 new cases today, there have been 62 new cases over the weekend, a three-day high in community infections, reported Bond.

Though a record 13 people were hospitalized yesterday, four have since been released, leaving nine still hospitalized.

Last week, Bond predicted the county would see a sharp rise in cases, many linked to travel over Thanksgiving, as well as indoor dining. “No gathering is safe,” she said.

  1. This specific situation that occurred at the legion is directly impacting my family. My son is not yet one year old, and due to people’s ignorance and selfish need to go to a bar during times like these, we now have to stress our selves out trying not to infect him in our own home. That is, if he hasn’t already contracted it. Why are places like this open right now? These are exceptional times and I wish that people had the wherewithal to make better decisions, but it’s obvious due to happenings like this, that they don’t. Think people. Your poor decisions can end up hurting a chain of people you aren’t even aware of. Happy holidays…

  2. Disappointed:
Why were all the liquor stores open too?
I think the VFW had some degree of normalcy. I am not defending them but Restaurants also serve alcohol along with meals. They all allow masks to be removed while eating or drinking.
So, we are all to blame and , unfortunately, Cooperstown isn’t unique. We all go to the pharmacy, Grocery Store, Bassett, Gas stations, stores in the village, furnerals, etc.
