Bat in Unadilla Tests Positive for Rabies

A press release from the Otsego County Department of Health reports that a bat in the Town of Unadilla tested positive for rabies on August 8. One person is receiving post-exposure vaccination. Rabies is a fatal viral infection that can be transmitted through the bite or scratch of an infected animal or contact with saliva to broken skin or mucus membranes.…

Artist Helen Quinn To Speak at Art Garage

Tornado Watch Issued for Otsego and Surrounding Counties

According to the National Weather Service, Tornado Watch 605 remains in effect until 11 p.m. this evening for six Central New York counties: Broome, Chenango, Delaware, Otsego, Sullivan, and Tioga, and in seven Pennsylvania counties. Cooperstown Native Makes Good at Rowing Nationals

Colin Wilcox didn’t think he would ever return to rowing. The 2016 Cooperstown Central School graduate and Long Island resident competed at the collegiate level at SUNY Geneseo, but he thought his career had ended when the COVID-19 pandemic put a stop to his senior season. After more than two years out of practice, he returned to the sport with the New York Athletic Club and put up impressive performances at two national competitions in July.…

Green Wave First in League, Eliminated from Tourney

The Oneonta Green Wave was eliminated from the American Legion District 6 tournament with a tough loss to Endicott at Binghamton’s Conlon Field on Wednesday, July 19. The contest was a tight pitchers’ duel, but Endicott broke away with three runs in the final two innings to win 4-0. Asa Dugan suffered a tough loss, his only one of the season, throwing five and two-thirds innings. He allowed only four hits, walked four and struck out five.…

Cannabis Store Opening Ceremony is Next Saturday

U.S. Army veteran and filmmaker Korey Rowe will open DOSHA, a legal cannabis retail store, on Main Street in Oneonta on Saturday, August 12.
