IN MEMORIAM:  Betty Schlee, 76;

Wilber Bank Senior Vice President

WEST LAURENS – Elizabeth “Betty” A. Schlee of Laurens, 76, who rose to senior vice president during 30 years at Wilber National Bank, passed away Feb. 10, 2019, following a brief illness.

She was born in Oneonta, on Jan. 21, 1943, the daughter of the late Robert and Wilma Schlee.  Betty graduated from Laurens Central School.  She wpent more than three decades at Wilber before her retirement.

She enjoyed baking for family and friends, and was especially known for her blueberry muffins and oatmeal raisin cookies.

Betty was an avid Syracuse University basketball fan. She also enjoyed occasional trips to Las Vegas and Atlantic City where she tried her hand (often successfully) at the slot machines.

Betty is survived by her brother, Robert (Doris) Schlee; her sister, Barbara (John) Lisk; her sister-in-law, Imogene Schlee; and her beloved nieces, Lori (Brian) DeLola, Dena Schlee, Juli (David) Hepner, Amy (Wayne) Allen, Josie (Brian) Dahmer, and Melissa Lisk; as well as many great- nieces and great-nephews who she cherished.

She was predeceased by her brother, Richard Schlee; and niece, Grace Pooley Lisk.

At Betty’s request, there will be no services.

  1. I was blessed to have known and worked with Betty for many years. She was an inspiration to many in the bank, including me. She was a leader and did her job well and with respect. She will be missed, Rest in Peace my friend
