IN MEMORIAM: Bryson ‘Joe’ Farro, 90;

Oneontan Lamplighter For D&H Railroad

ONEONTA – Bryson A. “Joe” Farro. a former lamplighter on the D&H railroad, passed away Aug. 7, 2019. He was 90 years old.

Joe was born to Hannah (Merrill) and Augustine Farro in Richmondville. The family moved to Oneonta when he was 4.

Joe married Theresa Russo on Sept. 19, 1954, at St. Mary’s Church in Oneonta. Joe previously served in the Army for two years at Fort Dix.

A D&H lamplighter, he later worked at SUNY Oneonta in the physical education building.

He was a former member of the Sixth Ward Booster Club Playground, Oneonta Plains Cemetery Boar, and Sixth Ward Athletic Club.

Joe is survived by his wife of 64 years, , Theresa; daughter Deborah Farro-Lynd (Donald Lynd Jr.); grandson DJ Lynd; sister Beverly Sessions; brother Douglas Farro; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

At Joe’s request, there will be no calling hours.  A graveside service will take place in Plains Cemetery at 11 a.m., Monday, Aug. 12, with the Rev. Bernard Osei Ampong officiating.
