CLAVERACK – Harriet B. Hegeman of Claverack, died Wednesday morning, Sept. 12, 2018, at Columbia Memorial Hospital, in the gentle embrace of her daughter and son-in-law. She was 95.
Survivors include Oneonta attorney Thomas Hegeman, a stepson.
Born March 2, 1923, in Rock Hill, S.C., she was one of six children born to William A. and Kathryn (Beach) Ball. She was a very talented artist and a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and stepmother.
Survivors include her daughter, Amy (Christopher) Cornell of Ghent; grandchildren, Mary (Andrew) Robin and Daniel (Linara) Cornell; and great-grandchildren, Lillian and Alexander Robin. She is also survived by two sisters, Dorothy “Dot” Snotherly of Burlington, N.C., and Eleanor Sikes of Sanford, N.C.; many nieces, nephews, wonderful friends.
Also, five five stepchildren. In addition to Thomas (Marie) Hegeman of Oneonta, they are Clinton Hegeman of Delmar, Daniel (Sara Lou O’Connor) Hegeman of Granada Hills, Calif., and Rachel (Donald Waldron) Hegeman of Selkirk.
Harriet was predeceased by her husbands, Herbert E. Kline in 1995 and Alan Hegeman in 2000. In addition to her husbands, she was predeceased by her brother, David Ball; her sisters, Marjorie Blue and Sarah Green; and her stepson, Benjamin Hegeman.
Calling hours will start at 1 p.m., Monday Sept. 17, at the Reformed Dutch Church of Claverack, where Harriet worshiped for many years. Funeral services will begin at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Linda Miles officiating.
