James E. Myers, 62

COOPERSTOWN—James Edward Myers passed away on February 28, 2023 at age 62. He worked as a respiratory therapist at Bassett Healthcare for years and enjoyed helping his patients. He loved the outdoors, especially during turkey season.

He is survived by his mother, Jean Myers, daughter Molly Myers (Dan), sister Jennifer Tibbens (Bernie), granddaughter Penelope Hernandez, nephews Cameron and Jesse Yerton, and grandnephew Chance. He was predeceased by his father, John Myers, sister, Janice Yerton, and long-time partner Helene Sherwood.

In keeping with the family wishes, there will be no calling hours. A private service will be held at another time. In lieu of flowers please just be kind to one another, as you never know what one is going through.

  3. Jimmy I will always remember all the times of happiness, friendship and your smile that shined a light of love on everyone you met. Even though our lives took us in separate directions you always remained a beautiful part of my life. My memories will reflect on those younger days of our lives and how we laughed loved and danced to a tune of true friendship that will last forever in my heart ❤️

  9. I worked with Jim for a few years at Bassett. He was very nice, had a great smile, was kind, and really cared about his colleagues and patients. He will be sorely missed. Prayers and sympathies to his family.

  11. He was like a younger brother to me. We loved a ton of the same things. Fly fishing in and elk hunting in Colorado to turkey and deer in NY. I’m going to miss those long phone talks that covered everything from family to hunting to the changes in our profession. He loved his patients. I will surely miss you. Loved you!
