IN MEMORIAM: Miriam Llewellyn, 94;

Nurse, Supervisor At Fox Hospital

ONEONTA –  Miriam J. Llewellyn, 94, who worked as a nurse at Fox Hospital, passed away Nov. 16, 2018.

She was born July 9, 1924, the daughter of Earl and Florence (Riette) Clifford.  She graduated from Chadwicks High School in 1941, then obtained her R.N. in 1945 from New England Deaconess School of Nursing in Boston.

She worked at Fox hospital in Oneonta in  1960-70 as regular-duty and intensive-care nurse, heart nurse, and supervisor. She also worked for hospitals in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. She retired in 1986.

In 1946, she married Earl Llewellyn and lived at Goodyear Lake for 30 years in the home that they built. Earl passed away in 2002 after 55 years of marriage.

She leaves behind the loves of her life, sons: Earl N Llewellyn Jr. of Rapid City, S.D. and Steven W Llewellyn with wife Christy Of Oneonta. Grandchildren Ryan S Llewellyn and wife Kirsty Llewellyn of St Thomas VI and Jamie Conway with husband Cody of Oneonta. Great grandchildren , Jake H Llewellyn VI, and Kaident M Conway Oneonta. Nephew Don Turp of Daytona Beach Fla. and Gary and Peggy Somerville and daughters Elizabeth, Malia of Buffalo.

Miriam took much joy and comfort from wonderful friends at country club apartments, Anne Potter, Gerry Ann, Jean Manley, Hazel Shafer, Cindy Young, Faith Reynolds, and the kindness of Landlord Jim Potter. Other important friends include Jane Miller and “Sophie”, Anne Warren, Rosemary Wiltsie and Betty Terbush.
