James A. Iandiorio, 78; Oneonta
Chiropractor, Hospice President
MILFORD — James A. Iandiorio, 78, Oneonta chiropractor and civic leader who served as president of Catskill Area Hospice of the the state Chiropractic Association, died peacefully on Nov. 16, 2019, at his home, surrounded by family.
He was born Jan. 8, 1941, in Staten Island, the son of James J. and Claire (Antico) Iandiorio. Jim was an Army veteran, and served from 1958 to 1961.
He married Diane Catella in 1964. She predeceased him in 2017.
Jim graduated from SUNY Oneonta and from New York State Chiropractic College in Manhattan. In 1968, he moved from New York City to Oneonta to open his chiropractic practice and to raise his family.
He was active in community life, serving as board member and president of Catskill Area Hospice & Palliative Care (now, Helios Care); as president of the New York State Chiropractic Association (NYSCA); as vice president of the New England Chiropractic Council (NECC); and as a board member of ARC Otsego.
Jim enjoyed golfing, fishing, playing cards, and was an avid reader. For many years, Jim spent winters in Florida and loved his long visits to the beach.
Jim is survived by his children Gianina Gohde, David, Michelle and Peter Iandiorio; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his sister, Mary Iandiorio; and his significant other, June Sheehan.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, 51 Dietz St., Oneonta. The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, at the funeral home. The burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Route 28, Index.
