ONEONTA – Judy Pangman, a former Lamont Engineering project manager and beef farmer in Carlisle, will be appointed as  Oneonta’s new director of community development at tonight’s Common Council meeting.

At Lamont Engineering, Cobleskill, she was instrumental in the development and management of infrastructure projects for communities throughout the region, from small ventures to multi-million dollar projects.

And as the owner of Sweet Tea farms, a grass-fed beef farm in Carlisle, Pangman has experience in sustainable agriculture and the local food movement.  She will work to implement the Craft Food and Beverage Innovation District, as well as with continuing housing, job-creation and infastructure initiatives.

“Judy’s wealth of experience, coupled with her vast industry knowledge, makes her an important addition to the City of Oneonta,” said Mayor Gary Herzig. I view her appointment as a sign of the City’s commitment to the community. We are very fortunate to have found someone with Judy’s work experience and talent to fulfill this key role.”

Pangman was appointed temporarily in October, pending a review of Civil Service requirements. She succeeds Bill Kerbin, who resigned in July to accept a town manager position Onancock, Va.
