In Memoriam: Albert Hughes

ONEONTA—Albert J. Hughes, 91, passed away at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown on December 18, 2023.
He was born August 6, 1932 in the Town of Butternuts, the son of Adelbert M. and Elizabeth (Whitney) Hughes.
He married Cegret Turnbull in 1960.
Albert was a United States Army veteran serving in the Korean War. 
He was a chef at A.O. Fox Hospital in Oneonta, retiring in 1994, then was a self-employed carpenter for 20 years.…

ONEONTA—Leia R. Coffin (Bailey), 45, passed away after a lengthy illness on December 12, 2023 at Strong Memorial in Rochester.
She was born November 30, 1978 in Oneonta, the daughter of Charles L. and Pauline (York) Bailey.
Leia graduated from Oneonta High School and SUNY Oneonta. She was a case manager for both treatment court and children and youth services.…

Becky was born on April 16, 1944 in Stamford, New York at Bathgate Hospital, the daughter of the late Griffin A. and Frances G. (McClelland) Brooks.
She graduated from Stamford Central School in 1962 and Otsego Area School of Practical Nursing. She had wonderful memories of growing up in Stamford on a poultry farm and also worked hard with her parents in the establishment of their barbecue…
