Cooperstown Central School has new principal

Karl O’Leary was announced as the new principal for Cooperstown Central School’s middle/high school, the district announced Tuesday, Aug. 3, on its website.

According to the post, O’Leary has 17 years of school experience and was previously an English teacher. He enjoys running and playing with his kids outdoors.

COOPERSTOWN – Stephen Hammond, Jr., 83, of Cooperstown, a retired teacher, principal and downtown merchant, died Feb. 28, 2018, AT Bassett Hospital after a long bout with cancer.  

Known to all as Buddy, he was a familiar figure at local hotspots such as the Cooperstown Diner, and was known for his outgoing personality and wonderful story-telling.

COOPERSTOWN – Paul J. Lambert, former Cooperstown Central School principal and superintendent of schools and later director of the Clark Foundation Scholarship Program, as well as a coach and well-respected member of the community, passed away late Wednesday night, Dec. 27, 2017, at Bassett Hospital.

A loving and supportive husband, father and grandfather, he was 87.

Born March 24, 1930, in Sayre, Pa., he was one of nine children of Harry F. and Mary A. (Murphy) Lambert.

A graduate of Athens High School, he attended Hartwick College, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in history.

COOPERSTOWN – Paul J. Lambert, former Cooperstown Central superintendent of schools, passed away late Wednesday night, Dec. 27, 2017, at Bassett Hospital.  He was 87.

In addition to CCS superintendent, he was a principal, and later director of the Clark Foundation Scholarship Program, as well as a coach and well-respected member of the community.
