On Coke, Marijuana Counts

EXETER – A driver and his passenger were both arrested for possessing marijuana and cocaine after a traffic stop in the Town of Exeter.

Brandon S. Richardson, 20, of Ilion, was stopped by troopers for allegedly driving 60 mph in a 45 mph zone on Route 28 near Schuyler Lake.

On approaching the vehicle, troopers reported they smelled marijuana inside and conducted a search, finding 10 grams of cocaine, more than 10 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Richardson was arrested and charged with the felony of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the third degree, three counts of the misdemeanor Criminal Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, second degree and the misdemeanor of Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs.

Troopers also arrested passenger Kayla A. Kipper, 25, also of Ilion, for the misdemeanor of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree and the violation of Unlawful Possession of marijuana.

Both suspects were arraigned before the Town of Exeter Court and remanded to the Otsego County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 secured bond.  Their next court date is pending.
