Troopers Identify Man

In Fatal Stericycle Accident

ONEONTA – An employee of Stericycle on Lower River Street was killed after he was caught between a tractor trailer and a loading dock yesterday morning.

John H. Murphy, 68, of Oneonta, was killed after he attempted to walk between a tractor trailer and a loading dock, unaware that the truck was backing up.  He was fatally struck, and died at the scene.

The Oneonta Fire Department and State Troopers assisted at the scene, and Otsego County Coroner Terry Knapp determined the death to be the result of severe trauma.  The investigation is ongoing.
