In House-Party Stabbing

ONEONTA – A 19-year-old Delhi man was arrested after allegedly stabbing a 22-year-old in the back following a fight at a house party on Columbia Street.

Dylan Cumpston, 19, a Hartwick College student, was arrested after police were called to Fox Hospital at 3:36 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30, with the report SUNY Oneonta student had been stabbed. Police arrived to find a victim being treated for a stab wound on his upper back.

A press release said investigators found there had been a fight at the victim’s home on Columbia Street at about 3:20 a.m. after Cumpston was ejected from a party there.  He returned and the fight ensued, police said.

The victim was treated, sent home, and is expected to make a full recovery.

Cumpston was arrested for assault in the second degree, a class D felony, and criminal possession of a weapon, fourth degree, a class A misdemeanor. If convicted, he faces up to  eight years incarceration.

  1. Throw Cumpston in jail. This is how we are going to end the violence. Next time he will kill someone! Lets not wait for that to happen!
