Findings of Risk Assessment

Demi Manesis, a Hartwick College student interning for the Oneonta Fire Department, explains the data analysis for the Community Risk Assessment, which she presented with Jim Maloney to Common Council this evening. Using property data from the county, the first analysis showed that the majority of Oneonta structures are of moderate risk, based on occupancy, size and updated building codes.  From here, Maloney said, the department will assess each individual structure in Oneonta and develop a Standard of Cover document, which will help the Fire/EMS department determine staffing levels for various calls.
