NY Women’s Film Festival Accepting Entries
ONEONTA—Film Otsego announced that the Made by New York Women Film Festival will return to Foothills Performing Arts and Civic Center from March 6-8. Submissions for the short, feature and documentary categories will be accepted through January 1. Any woman in any key filmmaking position is encouraged to submit her work if she is a New York resident or native, or if the film was made in New York. Eloise & Co. To Play Otesaga
COOPERSTOWN—Beloved folk trio Eloise & Co. will perform for Cooperstown Concerts at The Otsesaga Resort Hotel as part of their North American tour on Sunday, November 22. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m., with doors open at 7. Acoustic American quartet Fast Friends will perform across the hall in the lounge from 6:30-7:15 p.m. Featuring Becky Tracy (fiddle, octave fiddle, vocals), Rachel Bell (accordion, vocals), and Rachel Aucoin (piano), Eloise & Co. draws on a diverse range of musical influences from Celtic reels to waltzes and Quebecois folk tunes. Film Days Releases Schedule
COOPERSTOWN—Glimmerglass Film Days will return with a full weekend of local film, engaging conversation, tours and other events from Thursday, November 13 to Monday, November 17. The 2025 theme is “revolutions,” evoking not only political upheaval but the steady, predictable motions of the heavens. There will be a tie-in art exhibition at The Smithy and lunch boxes available for purchase from Brimstone Bakery all weekend. In addition to standard and sponsor tickets, this year’s festival includes a “Take Five Pass” option, allowing entry to any five uncatered film screenings for $35.00. Price Chopper Customers Donate 13K Pet Food Bags
SCHENECTADY—Market 32 and Price Chopper customers donated more than 13,000 bags of dog and cat food to local animal shelters during the company’s annual drive from September 14 to October 11. Brownfield Cleanup Applications Updated, Open
ALBANY—The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation issued a revised Brownfield Cleanup Program application in October. Applications for the previous version that are received after December 1 will not be accepted. BCP encourages private-sector cleanup and re-development of contaminated and blighted urban land through tax incentives and lower barriers. Smithy Releases Winter Schedule
COOPERSTOWN—The Smithy Clay Studio announced that its final session of classes for the year will run from November 10 to December 13, before a break until January 5. Four-week classes are $140.00, four weeks of open studio is $90.00 and the two-day holiday workshop is $70.00. Registration remains open until one day after the first class, but spaces generally fill quickly. Open studio runs from 1:30-4:30 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesday through Saturday. Ursula Hudak will lead a class titled “Throwing with More Clay” from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Mondays. The evening wheel class, taught by Laura Parker, runs from 6-9 p.m. on Mondays. Tuesday classes include “Creative Constructions” with Megan Adams Irving from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and “Mezze/Tapas Plates” with Anne Carnevale from 1:30-4:30 p.m. Parker teaches the “Alternative Finishes” class after open studio from 6-9 p.m. on Wednesdays. There is a morning wheel class with Jasmine Crowe from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursdays, and Karla Andela leads a homeschool class from 10 a.m. to noon on Fridays. Mairi Meehan will lead a two-day Holiday Magic workshop on Saturdays; the first group meets on November 15 and December 6 and the second meets on November 22 and December 13. Gas Prices Keep Falling
UTICA—The average price of gasoline in New York State fell another three cents to $3.10 per gallon over the week ending Monday, October 27, AAA Northeast announced. Crude oil prices ticked up about $4.00 per barrel on the announcement of new U.S. sanctions against Russia, one of the world’s largest producers, but remain lower than recent history would suggest. Domestic U.S. demand held steady over the week, while production climbed by about 130,000 barrels to 9.6 million per day. New York’s price is 11 cents lower than a month ago and 12 cents lower than today last year. It remains about five cents above the national average. SUNY Delhi Receives HVAC Training Equipment
DELHI—SUNY Delhi’s Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning program received a major windfall on Friday, October 24, a donation of more than $21,000.00 in professional-grade equipment from NAVAC Global. This leading HVAC manufacturer provided a set of cutting-edge hydraulic tube expanders, electric flaring tools, efficient A2L recovery machines and more. NAVAC representatives also visited to provide hands-on training in new techniques and safety practices. The new equipment and training will help prepare students for the next generation of the booming HVAC sector, including an industry-wide transition to low-GWP refrigerants taking place in January. CAA Announces Holiday Show Dates
COOPERSTOWN—Cooperstown Art Association’s annual Holiday Show and Sale will run from November 15 to December 23 in the Village Hall galleries at 22 Main Street. Member artists may drop off work on Friday and Saturday, November 7 and 8, with pickup for unsold works available on January 2 and 3. Each artist may contribute up to six small two-dimensional works, with tighter restrictions on larger pieces or three-dimensional works. CAA will retain a 30 percent commission on all sales.
