Harvest Festival Returns to The Farmers’ Museum’s Fall Lineup

Harvest Festival Returns to The
Farmers’ Museum’s Fall Lineup

After a two-year hiatus, celebrate the bounty of fall as the Harvest Festival returns to The Farmers’ Museum in Cooperstown on Saturday and Sunday, September 17 and 18, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“Since 1978, this family-friendly event has grown to become a regional favorite, bringing together a wide variety of performers, artisans, and vendors,” said Todd Kenyon, Director of Marketing. “We are excited it is returning.”

The festival is on the museum’s picturesque grounds near Otsego Lake. “We have the perfect blend of new attractions and trusted favorites,” Mr. Kenyon said. “Two days of live performances, music by folk singer and songwriter Kevin McKrell both days, and the museum’s Templeton Players will be on stage with two performances.”

Templeton Players reach back for rare comedy gems

The calm before the mayhem with, from left, director Mike Tamburrino, Angela Buesing Potrikus, Emily Travisano, and Mary-Jo Merk

The Templeton Players – the Farmers’ Museum’s resident theatre troupe – welcomes another summer season of performing rare comedic gems from the mid-late 19th century. All shows are free with museum admission and are performed outdoors (weather permitting) on the Leatherstocking Stage on the tavern green in the museum’s historic village!

Each Saturday in July and August, the Players present “Petticoat Perfidy,” first performed in 1885. Mayhem ensues when Mrs. Mountrevor returns home from a journey abroad and decides to throw a lavish party for all her friends — to which no one shows up. As she and her quick-witted French maid Juliette scramble to make it appear that her drawing room has recently hosted gaggles of socialites, they receive an unexpected visit from an old acquaintance, the pompous Mrs. Norwood-Jones, who brings an unwelcome bit of news with disastrous and hilarious results!

Looking Past COVID, Glimmer Globe Plans Season

Looking Past COVID,

Glimmer Globe Plans Season

Michael and Danielle Henrici, co-founders of The Glimmer Globe Theatre, announced Saturday, April 3, that there will be live performances this summer at The Farmers’ Museum and Fenimore Art Museum.

Glimmer Globe Theatre announced it will return to staging live performances this summer at Fenimore Art Museum and The Farmers’ Museum.

Glimmer Globe founders Michael Henrici and Danielle Henrici and Fenimore/Farmers’ Performing Arts Manager Mike Tamburrino announced Saturday, April 3, that the company will stage outdoor theater this summer, following a year’s hiatus because of the coronavirus pandemic.

“If all the world’s a stage, for heaven sakes, let’s get back on it,” Danielle Henrici said.

The performances will include main-stage performances of “The Compleat Works of Wllm Shkspr (Abridged)” at the Lucy B. Hamilton Amphitheater at the Fenimore in the town of Otsego. The show will run from Wednesday, July 14, to Sunday, Aug. 22.

The play by Adam Long, Daniel Singer and Jess Winfield was the first show performed by Glimmer Globe Theatre when it debuted a decade ago, the Henricis said.

“It means the world to us to return to this play as we return to the stage,” Danielle Henrici said.

“This is a show that appeals to everyone, even people who claim they don’t like Shakespeare,” she continued.

“It is also an incredible way to introduce children and teens to The Bard.”
